Hitachi Rail Europe have opened a brand new manufacturing plant at Newton Aycliffe and the opening of the impressive site was visited by Ford Component Manufacturing as a well established supplier to the rail industry.
Trains will start to be built at this factory in 2016 and Ford hopes to be one of the selected suppliers to provide Hitachi Rail Europe and its Tier 1 suppliers with a range from pressed parts from washers, brackets and laminated shims that it already supplies into the industry across the world. Ford has a great history supplying british rail companies from well over a decade ago and continues to do so by helping to introduce new more cost effective components for rail gearboxes, transmissions systems for rolling stock and even locking plates and brackets for signal switches.
