An exciting opportunity has arisen at Ford Aerospace in South Shields for a CNC Miller (program/setter/operator) to join our business on a permanent basis to produce precision machined components for suppliers of the Aerospace and Commercial industry.
Reporting to the CNC Miller Team Leader, the successful candidate will undertake duties associated with the operation of using CNC machine tools to meet production requirements.
Duties will include:
- Programme/set/operate machines to meet production schedule and to the required quality standard
- Programme/set/operate machines to produce single, small and large batch work
- Ensure orders are completed to the correct standard, within budget and on time
- To work with a range of materials including stainless steel, aluminium, and titanium
- To accurately interpret customer drawings and specifications
- To use a range of measuring equipment together with working knowledge of inspection procedures to undertake self-inspection
- To work as part of the CNC Milling Cell and interface with the production support department including production control, engineering, and maintenance
- Deburring of parts
- Be proactive in 6S duties
- To support the training of apprentices and trainees
- Accurately and timely recording of output and hours utilised, scrapped/waste materials and other production/quality related documentation
- Actively monitor working practices and provide feedback to improve efficiencies and job profitability
Essential:
Applicants must be time served (or possess other equivalent qualifications) and should have specific previous experience of Basic programming skills in Mazatrol or ISO (Haas). Demonstrating a positive, innovative and motivated approach to work combined with an ability to work under pressure within time constraints is key. The successful candidates must also have a flexible approach to work activities including job rotation and shift work as required to meet production needs.
Desirable:
Previous experience of working in a similar role within a manufacturing environment would be beneficial but not essential.

Shifts:
Note: we operate a 4 day working week (37.5hours)
- Day Shift – Monday to Wednesday – 07:00 to 17:00 & Thursday 07:00 to 16:30
- Earlies – Monday to Wednesday – 06:00 to 16:00 & Thursday 06:00 to 15:30
- Lates – Monday to Wednesday – 13:00 to 23:00 & Thursday 13:00 to 22:30
